Life Songs | If you want to sing out

Welcome to Life Songs. We are thrilled to be a part of a life stories project with eleven other talented photographers! In this series, we will be documenting our lives with a different theme song each month. The images in the posts will be taken from a less traditional approach, showcasing “real life” in our own ways. This month’s inspiration is ” If you want to sing out, sing out” by Cat Stevens. We were originally going to take a pretty literal approach to this one. Neither one of my kids likes to sing a whole lot, but Marne’s kids are a different story. Her little girl has a passionate love of singing. Unfortunately something happens to little people sometime between the ages of 3 and 7. They start to worry about how they look and what people think and who might see them. It happens to just about everyone, and it is kind of a sad transition. So it turned out that my little 3 year old boy was the one who stepped forward, grabbed the mic and looked like he was belting out a public concert. I think that is what this song is about for me. How everyone needs to find that uninhibited 3 year old from within on occasion (without lots of alcohol being involved) and just not worry about what people think. Love what you love and let everyone know!!!

So I was going to post those photos of my 3 year old singing his heart out. But his heart really doesn’t sing for singing. His heart really sings when he ride his skuut bike. We have replaced the bearings in that little wooden bike 3 times in the past 3 months because he has shredded them to tiny bits. He really should move on to a bigger bike but he just loves that little skuut. Like I said, it makes his heart sing!!!
